AV8R Mustang Auctioned Off For Charity

The first Shelby GT was auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson in 2007 for $600,000 and the first GT500KR was sold for $550,000. Both were sold in the hopes of raising money for charity and both were very successful. The next Mustang to be auctioned off is the AV8R Mustang.

The one-off AV8R Mustang that crossed the block last week at the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Gathering Eagles charity auction and brought down the gavel with a final bid of $500,000. The unique Mustang features a 400-hp supercharged V8, Ford Racing suspension upgrades, and an aviation-inspired paint scheme plus much more.

Wow, I got to say many thoughts come to mind when I think about the Shelby GT500 horsepower, affordable, and weight watchers. Now I know those don’t all seem to go together, but lets take a closer look. Five hundred horsepower and it costs quite a bit less than what it normally would before dealer mark up.

Shelby Producing More GT500KR For 2009

This year is Shelby’s 40th anniversary. With that being said we all know that Shelby’s way of celebrating is to release a brand new special limited edition car. This year that car is the Shelby GT500KR and Shelby didn’t hold back with it at all. They displayed the GT500KR at the New York Auto Show and with it they released some good news.
